Adidas and Beyoncé today (April 4, 2019) announced plans for a strategic partnership. Beyoncé will be a creative partner for the brand, develop new signature footwear and apparel, as well as re-launch Ivy Park with Adidas.

Commenting on the news, the 37-year old entrepreneur and entertainer stated, “This is the partnership of a lifetime for me. Adidas has had tremendous success in pushing creative boundaries. We share a philosophy that puts creativity, growth and social responsibility at the forefront of business. I look forward to re-launching and expanding Ivy Park on a truly global scale with a proven, dynamic leader.”

The partnership will include both lifestyle and performance offerings. The press release notes Beyoncé will maintain ownership of the Ivy Park brand, noting, “This partnership respects Beyoncé’s ownership of her company which continues her journey as one of the first black women to be the sole owner of an athleisure brand.”

The news puts the Carter household on competing athletic brand teams. While Beyoncé is partnered with Adidas, her husband, Jay-Z, is currently the president of Puma basketball.

As of now, there is no news on timing of offerings.

Noah founder and J Crew men's creative director Br Noah founder and J Crew men's creative director Brendon Babenzien has a certified hit on his hands. Part of his debut collection with the retailer, the men's "giant fit" chino priced at 89.50 is 100% sold out! Relecting the popularity of the silhouette, the women's wide-leg pleated cargo is also sold out.

With wider fits and chino swinging back into popularity, we can't help but wonder what sneakers and shoes will be coming along for the ride. Any nominations?

The GOAT Serena Williams says farewell to her care The GOAT Serena Williams says farewell to her career as a professional tennis player in the September issue of American Vogue.

In the cover story, which is a must read, Williams shares some thoughts on her evolution away from tennis and says,"Believe me, I never wanted to have to choose between tennis and a family. I don’t think it’s fair. If I were a guy, I wouldn’t be writing this because I’d be out there playing and winning while my wife was doing the physical labor of expanding our family. Maybe I’d be more of a Tom Brady if I had that opportunity. Don’t get me wrong: I love being a woman, and I loved every second of being pregnant with Olympia. I was one of those annoying women who adored being pregnant and was working until the day I had to report to the hospital—although things got super complicated on the other side. And I almost did do the impossible: A lot of people don’t realize that I was two months pregnant when I won the Australian Open in 2017."

The cover editorial was styled by Gabriella Karefa-Johnson, who in 2020 became the first black woman to style a U.S. Vogue cover.

This cover was also one of the last projects hairstylist #LatishaChong worked on before she sadly passed away in July this year.
