Cardi B announced today (May 21, 2019) she’s backing out as headliner of the 92Q Spring Bling Festival in Baltimore. The 26-year-old was scheduled to perform on Friday, but canceled because she needs time to recover from cosmetic surgery. Spring Bling organizers have announced a makeup date of September 8th.
In addition to the Baltimore date, she also canceled a performance scheduled for May 21st in El Paso, Texas, along with dates in Syracuse and Saratoga Springs, New York on May 25th and 26th. As of now, she’s still scheduled to perform on June 1st in Mansfield, Massachusetts.
According to TMZ, Cardi needs time to recover from recent liposuction and breast augmentation surgery. While Cardi hasn’t issued an official statement, a member of her team told TMZ, “Cardi says she’s very disappointed and hates to let her fans down, but she wants to reassure them that she’ll see them in September.”
Cardi foreshadowed issues with her recovery at the Beale Street Musical Festival in Memphis on May 5th. During the performance she told concert goers, “I have some news for y’all. I should have canceled today. I shouldn’t really be performing because moving too much is gonna fuck my lipo. But bitch, I’m still gonna get my motherfucking money back, let’s go!”
On top of additional concert dates including headlining at Rolling Loud, the month of May has been jam-packed with appearances for Cardi who attended the Billboard Awards on May 1st and also fit in attendance at the Met Gala on May 7th. Shortly thereafter she performed at an event promoting her second Fashion Nova collection.
Following the birth of baby Kulture, the Bronx-born hit-maker often spoke about wanting to have her breasts lifted. Rumor has it she had a mommy makeover in the Dominican Republic sometime in April.
Cardi has always been open about undergoing the knife to improve her appearance and in multiple interviews admitted to receiving breast implants as well as illegal butt injections as a way to increase her income during her days as a stripper. Even when she transitioned into a rap career, one of the lines in her breakout single “Bodak Yellow” is about paying a large amount of money to get her teeth corrected with veneers.
