Actress and activist Amandla Stenberg today (May 15, 2019) was announced as Fenty Beauty‘s first official ambassador. The news follows several new product drops and rumors of the label’s plans to expand into skincare.
“I wanted to become a part of the Fenty Family because it’s one of the few beauty brands that make me feel like myself! Fenty Beauty’s whole ethos makes me feel empowered and excited to let different facets of myself shine,” the 20-year-old Stenberg said in a press release.
While Amandla has the requisite poreless skin that makes her the perfect beauty ambassador, her values also sync up with those of Fenty Beauty boss, Rihanna, who’s never been shy about putting her progressive views out front and center. In addition to Stenberg’s break out acting role in The Hunger Games and The Hate U Give, in October 2019 she landed a placement in Time magazine as a “Next Generation Leader” for her ability to speak thoughtfully on the topics of cultural appropriation, sexual identity, intersectional feminism, and biracial identity.
