IKEA has some fun with its furnishings by recreating the living rooms prominently featured on TV shows “The Simpsons,” “Stranger Things” and “Friends” with items included in its current catalog offerings.
In a press release, IKEA stated, “We brought to life the iconic living rooms of the most beloved families of all times, through tons of furniture combinations in lots of different styles and sizes, and at affordable prices. We’ve grouped all the products for each room for you, so it’s easy to recreate what you see here in your own home. Take a look and make your living room iconic with IKEA.”
Titled the “Real Life Series,” the effort is part of a Publicis Spain-produced campaign targeting customers in United Arab Emirates, Egypt and Oman, whose populations include a large percentage of individuals who are from places who will recognize the references to the three shows.
The sets took months to put together and in some cases were “personalized or painted.” The bigger challenge, however, was deciding which rooms to recreate. In an exchange with AdAge, Publicis Spain CCO explained, “We had a list of 60, so deciding these three was quite a hard decision to make.”
