Alabama-born rapper Chika (real name Jane Chika Oranika) paid a visit to “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” on Wednesday night (May 22, 2019) where she made her TV debut and performed two songs.
Invited by guest host Lena Waithe, the 22-year-old performed “No Squares” and “Richey v Alabama,” a brand new single that makes a statement on her state’s recent move to outlaw abortion through reference to a friend of hers. She finished the song with an a powerful a capella message to Donald Trump, letting him know minorities will stand together against him.
Following the performance, Chika processed the appearance with a post on Instagram where she wrote, “i’m genuinely still processing what a life moment this was. never in my wildest dream did i expect to be here so soon— and with so many that i have looked up to.. for so long. i graduated high school 4 years ago yesterday. i was once so fearful that after leaving college, i’d have to watch people graduate and try not to feel unaccomplished. my nigga, i just played kimmel. crazy”
