Entrepreneur and TV host, Tyra Banks has landed the cover for Sports Illustrated‘s 2019 Swimsuit Issue with an image shot in Great Exuma, Bahamas by Laretta Houston. Banks was shot in a yellow Andi Bagus string bikini and struck a pose that included her signature smize.
This marks the third SI Swimsuit cover for the 45-year-old Banks, who came out of model retirement to shoot issue. She made history in 1997 as the first black woman to land a solo cover.
“My first one was 23 years ago, how crazy is that? I’m like damn, I’m 45 dog!” Banks said on a visit to “Good Morning America“ where the cover was revealed.
Banks is one of three stars getting their own cover. She’s joined by Alex Morgan, forward for the Orlando Pride in the National Women’s Soccer League along with Olympic gold medalist Camille Kostek.
At the moment, Banks is working on building ModelLand, a Los Angeles theme park inspired by her hit series “America’s Next Top Model,” a show executive produced and presented for the first 22 seasons until the series’ cancellation in October 2015.
