Providing some excitement on a lazy Sunday (June 2, 2019), Asian da Brat, City Girls‘ member Yung Miami and Cardi B all jumped in a scrap related to lyric writing. Megan thee Stallion (real name Megan Pete) was tagged but she wanted no parts of the mess!
Following a fun hang out session with Megan and Trina in Miami, on Saturday Asian (real name Misharron Jamesha Allen) tweeted, “We be writing our shit @theestallion.” While Asian was clearly subbing, let it be stated for the record she named no names. (Keep in mind, all of this was playing out against the backdrop of Hot 97’s “Summer Jam” concert where Megan and Cardi both performed on Sunday.)
Never one to shy away from a scrap, Yung (real name Caresha Brownlee ) jumped in on Sunday and posted on Instagram: “A HIT IS A HIT!!! Some of yall need writers PERIODT,” and added with a comment that read, “I said what I said !” It should be noted that Caresha does write some of her own bars, though she didn’t on “Act Up,” her group’s second biggest single.
It’s not clear why Caresha thought Asian’s jab was directed at her, but it could be because of the hubbub caused over the reveal that Lil Yachty wrote most of the bars for “Act Up.” He was also prominently featured in the video, which just dropped just four days ago.
Cardi, who is team City Girls because they both are signed to Quality Control Music, weighed in on the conflict with an Instagram Live video where she ripped anonymous individuals who criticize Caresha for not writing her lyrics, but sing “Act Up” with “their full chest.” She added, “What you not gonna do is hate on a bitch. Fuck outta here. Not on my watch.”
Asian then followed with a Tweet in which she basically said, a hit dog will holler! She wrote, “If I’m talking about anybody I’ll put a date name & address on it wtf do me saying I write my shit gotta do with anybody…. everybody who write they music love saying they write they music if you get offended that’s on YOU I love bragging on myself idgaf.”
While Megan was tagged at the start of the scrum, she let it be known she’s neutral like Switzerland. On Instagram Stories, she wrote, “I mind my business, make my Money and support everyone I ain’t in no drama.”
