Walt Disney World has released a new preview clip for The Lion King, a photorealistic computer-animated remake of the film. The latest preview reveals for the first time the voice of Beyoncé playing the adult role of Nala, a lioness who is introduced as the childhood best friend of Simba, the film’s protagonist.
In the clip she tells her long-lost friend it’s time to come home. Nala implores him, “Simba, you have to take your place as king. We need you. Come home”
Beyoncé is part of a star-studded voice cast for The Lion King that also includes Donald Glover as Simba, James Earl Jones as Mufasa, Chiwetel Ejiofor as Scar, Bill Eichner as Timon, Seth Rogen as Pumbaa and John Oliver as Zazu.
In the lead up to the film, Beyoncé attended the Wearable Art gala wearing an outfit referencing the upcoming film
The Jon Favreau-directed movie hits theaters July 19.
