Los Angeles-based label Maisie Wilen as led by Maisie Schloss showed its inaugural collection in Los Angeles yesterday (June 6, 2019) at the Night Gallery. Bright and breezy, the pre-spring 2020 collection of separates is a celebration of youth, on-the-go femininity.

Educated at Parsons and a former Yeezy womenswear designer, Schloss is the first recipient of a grant via Kanye West‘s newly-formed incubator program to support up-and-coming talent.

In an exchange with Vogue about the opportunity, Schloss stated, “Yeezy is a really special environment for growing and developing a career. When I started I was just an assistant, but the highly creative and unconventional atmosphere allowed for me to have visibility and input in a wide variety of projects. Kanye very generously offered to support me; he truly cares about sharing resources, creating opportunities for creatives to grow and be recognized.”

Priced from $100-$950, the label has plans to present a full, 85-piece collection in Paris some time in June.

Check out the debut lookbook and presentation below.

Noah founder and J Crew men's creative director Br Noah founder and J Crew men's creative director Brendon Babenzien has a certified hit on his hands. Part of his debut collection with the retailer, the men's "giant fit" chino priced at 89.50 is 100% sold out! Relecting the popularity of the silhouette, the women's wide-leg pleated cargo is also sold out.

With wider fits and chino swinging back into popularity, we can't help but wonder what sneakers and shoes will be coming along for the ride. Any nominations?

The GOAT Serena Williams says farewell to her care The GOAT Serena Williams says farewell to her career as a professional tennis player in the September issue of American Vogue.

In the cover story, which is a must read, Williams shares some thoughts on her evolution away from tennis and says,"Believe me, I never wanted to have to choose between tennis and a family. I don’t think it’s fair. If I were a guy, I wouldn’t be writing this because I’d be out there playing and winning while my wife was doing the physical labor of expanding our family. Maybe I’d be more of a Tom Brady if I had that opportunity. Don’t get me wrong: I love being a woman, and I loved every second of being pregnant with Olympia. I was one of those annoying women who adored being pregnant and was working until the day I had to report to the hospital—although things got super complicated on the other side. And I almost did do the impossible: A lot of people don’t realize that I was two months pregnant when I won the Australian Open in 2017."

The cover editorial was styled by Gabriella Karefa-Johnson, who in 2020 became the first black woman to style a U.S. Vogue cover.

This cover was also one of the last projects hairstylist #LatishaChong worked on before she sadly passed away in July this year.
