Atlanta-born Normani (real name Normani Kordei Hamilton) has a break out moment with “Motivation,” a crown-pleasing visual tapping into an old-school hip hop vibe.
The video opens with a young Normani watching “106 & Park,” imagining herself landing the top of the show’s famed video countdown. The scene transitions to a grown version of the former Fifth Harmony member in an air brushed short set and Jordans, flexing dance skills that pay tribute to Beyoncé’s “Crazy in Love” and Britney Spears’ “Baby One More Time” visuals.
“Motivation” is the follow up to her Sam Smith duet “Dancing With a Stranger” and her first non-collaborative effort since embarking on a solo career after Fifth Harmony’s break up.
