Elle magazine has released its annual October music issue with a trio of covers featuring Billie Eilish, Lizzo and Camila Cabello, all of whom can claim 2019 as a stellar year in their careers.

In a note summing up their combined careers to date, Elle wrote, “All three artists have achieved tremendous success, and all three have navigated very personal struggles with depression, anxiety, and insecurity. To succeed in music requires support from both fans and peers. Ahead, we champion their wins and losses, and stream them on repeat.”

“I take self-love very seriously because when I was younger, I wanted to change everything about myself,” @lizzobeeating told ELLE. “I didn’t love who I was because I was told I wasn’t lovable by the media, by [people at] school, by not seeing myself in beauty ads, by not seeing myself in television…by lack of representation. My self-hatred got so bad that I was fantasizing about being other people. But you can’t live your life trying to be somebody else. What’s the point?” Link in bio for the full #ELLEWIM cover story.⁣ ⁣ ELLE October 2019:⁣ Editor-in-chief: @ninagarcia⁣ Cover star: @lizzobeeating⁣ Written by: Allison Takeda⁣ Photographed by: @yvanfabing⁣ Styled by: @annatrevelyan⁣ Wearing: @jpgaultierofficial, @csiriano, @savagexfenty, @debeersofficial ⁣ Hair: @theshelbyswain⁣ Makeup: @iwantalexx⁣ Manicure: @joannanewboldnails⁣ Set design by: Kei Yoshino at Bryant Artists @keiyoshino_set⁣ Produced by: Noir Productions @noir.productions

“I’ve gotten to a point where I’m finally okay,” @billieeilish told ELLE for our Women in Music issue. “It’s not because I’m famous. It’s not because I have a little more money. It’s so many different things: growing up, people coming into your life, certain people leaving your life. For anybody who isn’t doing well, it will get better. Have hope. I did this shit with fame riding on my shoulders. Being famous is great, but it was horrible for a year. Now I love what I do, and I’m me again. The good me. And I love the eyes on me.” Link in bio for the full #ELLEWIM cover story.⁣ ⁣ ELLE October 2019:⁣ Editor-in-chief: @ninagarcia⁣ Cover star: @billieeilish⁣ Written by: @evebarlow⁣ Photographer: @yvanfabing⁣ Stylist: @annatrevelyan⁣ Wearing: @louisvuitton, @cartier⁣ Hair: @tammyyi⁣ Makeup: @robrumseymua⁣ Manicure: @jolene.b.nails⁣ Set Design: Bryan Porter at Owl & the Elephant @daysofourslides

@camila_cabello on her new music: “There was a time when I was listening to these songs that I had to turn the album off. I had to let go emotionally—I sat there and cried so much. I feel an undeniable truth that the album has captured the essence of me at this point in my life. I always think, ‘Could I be more honest? Could I be more open?’ I feel like I’ve done that even better than on my first album.” Link in bio for the full #ELLEWIM cover story.⁣ ⁣ ELLE October 2019:⁣ Editor-in-chief: @ninagarcia⁣ Cover star: @camila_cabello⁣ Written by: @dbacherwrites⁣ Photographer: @yvanfabing⁣ Stylist: @annatrevelyan⁣ Wearing: @davidkoma⁣ Hair: @dimitrishair⁣ Makeup: @patrickta⁣ Manicure: @jolene.b.nails⁣ Set Design: Bryan Porter at Owl & the Elephant @daysofourslides⁣ Produced by: Paul Preiss at Preiss Creative @preisscreative

The home boasts a hand-sewn makuti thatched roof and salt-water pool with furniture sourced from all over Africa but especially Marrakech and Cairo. Campbell is also a fan of furniture made in Senegal.

Commenting on her Kenyan home, Campbell explained, "It’s a very calming place. You don’t really want to be on the phone. You’re not trying to find a television. You just want to read and be with yourself. It’s nice to just have the silence and the crickets."

Campbell was shot by Khadija Farah and styled by Edward Ngera. The story was written by Lola Ogunnaike.
