Los Angeles-based No Sesso as designed by Pierre Davis and co-directed by Arin Hayes on Thursday (September 6, 2019) returned for a second time to New York Fashion Week to show a spring ’20 collection titled “I’d Rather Rescue Myself.” The exuberant and optimistic collection reflected in part the influence of Davis and Hayes’ global travels over the past year that included visits to Tokyo, Mexico City, New York and Chicago.

At the same time, the collection was rooted in the story of No Sesso superhero Valentina, a fictional character represented by the model who opened and closed the show.

According to press, “The collection introduces the fictional all-power superhero named Valentina and follows her as she saves the day, travels to the beach, runs her business, goes to parties, and has a day-to-day life that mirrors their own. This season, No Sesso focuses on what it means to be a real life superhero.”

With production handled in Los Angeles, the label continued to evolve and expand on an artisinal approach highlighted by hand-embroidered and hand dyed garments.

Head-turning wigs stamped with No Sesso’s logo were styled by Miachel Angelo of Wonderland Beauty Parlour who partnered with longtime creative collaborator Malcolm Robinson.

Caps featured on the runway were provided by New Era while models wearing sneakers sported Adidas Superstar.
