Rihanna hosted her 5th Diamond Ball gala last night (September 12, 2019), an event that was again hosted at Cipriani in New York City. The belle of the ball wore a Givenchy haute couture mermaid gown featuring a black turtleneck and long sleeves and included a sheer white cage skirt.
The gala functions as a fundraiser for the Clara Lionel Foundation, an organization that supports and funds global education, health and emergency response programs and also engages in advocacy to improve the quality of life of children around the world.
This year’s event honored Mia Mottley, the prime minister of Barbados and Shaun King, the ever-controversial civil rights activist.
Talk show host Seth Meyers hosted the event, which included performances by DJ Khaled and Pharrell who was joined on stage by Rihanna for a performance of “Lemonade.” There were also spur of the moment performances by G-Eazy, Yo Gotti, Fabolous, Fat Joe, A$AP Ferg and Megan thee Stallion.
The event was packed with celebrities including Cardi B, Offset, Kelhani, Megan Thee Stallion, Normani, ASAP Rocky, 2 Chainz (who celebrated his birthday) and Karlie Kloss among others.
