Rihanna Celebrates Female Creativity With Rihannazine

January 20, 2020. Leave a Comment

Rihanna has linked with i-D on a one-off publication called Rihannazine. Creative directed by Rihanna, the issue was shot by Mario Sorrenti. The magazine includes a black and white editorial starting the Bajan Boss, who is styled by Alastair McKimm and wears designs by Fenty, Balenciaga, Rick Owens, Vetements and more.

The issue is described as “A special issue of i-D, co-created and curated by Rihanna, is dedicated to people reshaping the culture across fashion, music, art, activism and female empowerment.

In addition to Rihanna, there are photos of and interviews with an array of female models, DJs, musicians, actresses, designers, writers and activists who are somehow in her orbit. Each subject is asked a similar set of questions, including what the subject would ask Rihanna if given the opportunity. Surprisingly, just one said she would ask about timing for Rihanna’s next album.

Selected individuals include Gigi Hadid, Alexa Demie, Paloma Elsesser, Kitty Cash, Adwoa Aboah, Parris Goebel, Rico Nasty, Renell Medrano, Vanessa Vanjie Mateo, Ylang Ylang Poon, Bella Hadid, Kelela, Lena Waithe, Amina Muaddi, Mica Argañaraz, Skylar Diggins-Smith, Raisa Flowers, Zadie Smith, Mowalola, Adesuwa Aighewi, Anna Ewers, Ashley James, Leikeli47, Jazzelle, Yolanda Renee King, Kenturah Davis, Mannat & Sirat, Imaan Hammam, Selena Forrest, Sita Abellan, Adut Akech, Anok Yai, Kyla Coleman, Tarana Burke, Young M.A., Ama Elsesser, Ugbad Adbi, Raisa Flowers, Tommy Genesis, Roxane Gay and Jill Kortleve.

Priced at 12 pounds ($15.60), the magazine is now available for pre-order and will ship on January 27, 2020.
