Lady Gaga thrilled the Little Monsters on Friday (February 27, 2020) with the release of “Stupid Love,” a pop anthem single and visual that touches on the themes that first established the artist in the mid ’00s. The song is the lead single from Lady Gaga’s (real name Stefani Germanotta) upcoming sixth studio album, titled Chromatica.
Shot entirely on an iPhone 11 Pro and directed by Daniel Askill, the dramatic visual positions takes a page from the Stars Wars franchise with an opening crawl that reads, “The world rots in conflict. Many tribes battle for dominance. While the Spiritual ones pray and sleep for peace, the Kindness punks fight for Chromatica.”
In the visual, a pink-clad Gaga uses the power of love attempts to bridge the divide. In a scene where she disrupts two men battling with her super powers, she sings the song’s chorus, “All I ever wanted was love.”
Styled by Nicola Formichetti, Gaga wears four different custom looks designed by Vex Clothing, Laurel DeWitt, Wiederhoeft, Kaimin, Candice Cuoco and many more.
