New York-based Thom Browne has provided a behind-the-scenes look at the making of the label’s pristine spring 2020 runway women’s presentation, a collection presented during place during Paris Fashion Week in September 2019.
The video begins with time-lapse photography showing the construction of the set as well as final fittings for the looks. Models are also shown in hair and make up and during runway rehearsals. The video finishes with a close up look at a truly spectacular, other-worldly runway rooted in 18th-century-era fashion.
One thing the video reveals is that Browne is very committed to his own signature buttoned-up look. Eschewing all things casual, Browne is shown through out the video wearing his grey, three-piece suit and shorts.
Commenting on the presentation, Browne states, “My job is to make people think, make people see sometimes classic ideas more interestingly. It’s not always for wearability. It’s not always for commercial reasons. it’s more to move the needle forward in regards to seeing clothing differently.”
