Paris-based label Fenty has dropped its first collection of shoes made in consultation with designer Amina Muaddi. Released as part of Fenty’s third and final 7-20 drop, the collection includes four sandal silhouettes, all of which are distinguished by a metal heel inspired by the strength of a steel nail.

Fenty CEO Roby Rihanna Fenty was an early adopter of Muaddi’s stylish designs and began wearing them not long after the brand launched in summer 2018.

Fenty junior creative director Jahleel Weaver purchased a pair for Rihanna and subsequently reached out to Muaddi. He explained, “I had purchased some of her shoes for Rihanna for projects we were doing, and I reached out saying I was such a fan. We later scheduled a meet-up and a cocktail, from there it’s been history.”

While it’s meaningful that a designer as buzzy as Muaddi would say yes to working with Rihanna, the timing of the launch couldn’t be more challenging given the draw back in spending on dress shoes. While the collection launched earlier today (July 15, 2020), all four silhouettes in all color options are available in full size runs.

Sized from 36-42, pricing for the sandals ranges from $490 for the Meshy mule and up to $820 for a Braidy Me Up gladiator sandal. All shoes are exclusively available on fenty.com.
