Houston-born Megan thee Stallion (real name Megan Pete) took to Instagram Live today (July 27, 2020), marking her first public statement since being shot at a Los Angeles party early in the morning of July 12th.
In the video, Megan stated that contrary to reports, she was shot twice, once in each foot. Holding back tears, she explained, “I was shot in both of my feet and I had to get surgery to get the bullets taken out and it was super scary.”
Implying she will make a full recovery, she added, “Thank god that the bullets didn’t hit bones, they didn’t break tendons…”
In response to the multiple memes that appeared when it was reported she was shot by rapper Tory Lanez, Megan stated, “It’s not funny. It’s nothing to joke about.” She added, “I didn’t put my hands on nobody. I didn’t deserve to get shot. I didn’t do sh*t.”
She also explained she hadn’t stayed silent because she was protecting anyone, but rather because she wasn’t read to speak. “That’s not no shit you immediately get on the internet and talk about,” she said.
Tears began to flow as Megan explained the impact of losing family members on choices she’s made. She explained, “Imagine being 25 and you don’t have both your parents. My Momma was my best friend, I’m still really not over that. So you like, you kinda try to fill your space with a bunch of people that you think is making you happy…”
“I was moving too fast. I wasn’t taking enough time for myself,” she explained. “I though I was ready to be around a bunch of motherf*ckers. I thought I was ready to give good energy to other people and other people would give good energy to me. But I definitely had to sit my ass down and pray on it and I do feel a lot better.”
In the caption of an image uploaded alongside the video reads, “Unbreakable.”
