Preview Look At Adidas And Beyoncé Co-Branded Superstar With Tapered Toe

Images have surfaced of a modified Adidas Originals Superstar (style code:  FY7730) featuring a tapered upper and a double platform outsole. The shoe has been described as part of an upcoming Adidas and Ivy Park launch, however, the shoe’s insole reveals Adidas and Beyoncé branding rather than the Adidas and Ivy Park co-branding featured in the debut drop.

When the partnership was discussed in a November 2019 earnings call, the company CEO Kasper Rørsted stated the effort would be a two-tiered effort. On the call, Rørsted explained, “We are launching around two brands: we’re launching around Ivy Park and then Beyoncé Adidas.”

Adidas efforts with Ivy Park were described as accessibly priced and more widely available while the collaboration with Beyoncé would include more limited, higher-priced pieces. In the German brand’s March 2020 earnings call commenting on the effort, Rørsted noted, “We will launch a broader and a more varied set of different price points for this year.”

Prior to the reveal of the Adidas and Beyoncé Superstar, a new Adidas and Ivy Park Nite Jogger popped up last week. As well, the 38-year-old superstar was spotted in New York on Sunday (August 23, 2020) where she was said to be shooting an Adidas-related campaign. In the images, she wears a previously unseen, black version of a Adidas and Ivy Park jumpsuit, a silhouette that was part of the January drop.

In June, leak account @pyrates described an upcoming Adidas and Ivy Park capsule of footwear comprising an Ultra Boost OG, Forum Mid, Forum Low, and the Sleek Super 72 with pricing ranging from $120-$150. There was no mention of the Superstar, providing further credence to the shoe being part of a different launch.

Adidas and Ivy Park dropped their debut collection in mid-January 2020. The collection of apparel, shoes and accessories sold out upon arrival. It’s a good bet that whatever plans the two brands had to launch additional collections since then were probably put on hold once COVID-19 put the world on lock down in March.

In other Beyoncé news, the talented entertainer released an official video for “Brown Skin Girl” today, a single from her Black Is King soundtrack featuring rapper SAINt JHN and Nigerian signer/songwriter WizKid.
