With the usual summer music concerts and festivals all cancelled and radio listening hurt by decline in driving, women artist are relying more than ever on streaming platforms to reach and grow their fan base
Notably, while Spotify streaming levels were at first negatively impacted by COVID-19, the Stockholm-based company recently reported that “as of June 30, global consumption hours have recovered to pre-COVID levels.”
At the same time, young music lovers are still finding ways to gather during a summer that may end being most remembered for its underground party scene whose literal soundtrack has been playlists composed on streaming platforms.
Women kept the parties bouncing with July highlighted by songs by or featuring Rubi Rose, Summer Walker, MAAD, Jhené Aiko, Tkay Maidza, Kari Faux, Nicki Minaj, Baby Rose, KenTheMan, DreamDoll, Queen Naija, Flo Milli, Lianna La Havas, Snoh Aalegra, Mulatto, Good Girl, Tamia, Tay Money and Saweetie.
