While fashion may have taken it on the chin in 2020, the year has been an accelerant for all things cozy and comforting. California-based Ugg has been a big beneficiary of the trend with its already popular, Fluff family of sandals further skyrocketing in popularity as the perfect work-from-home shoe, which also happens to make a very cute statement while making local shopping trips or on escapes to the beach.
This summer, Ugg revealed a new addition to the family with the debut of Fluffita, a shoe that’s every bit as cute as it’s name. Working off of the ever appealing slide silhouette, Ugg’s Fluffita ups the ante with a sheepskin-covered upper and insole that sits on a 1.75-inch flatform. Adding some width options, the upper includes an adjustable web strap .
Very much a sandal and slipper hybrid, Ugg rolled out the first Fluff sandal with the Fluff Yeah silhouette in spring 2018. The distinct shoe marries a very fluffy, sheepskin-covered upper with a prominently branded ankle strep that sits on a platform outsole.
As with all things Ugg, the Fluff family of shoes is controversial, inspiring as much delight as disgust in part because they look like slippers i.e. shoes meant to stay indoors, but also because sheepskin isn’t associated with summer footwear. In no way shy or retiring, Fluff shoes for their legions of fans succeed at making an over-the-top feminine, fun and slightly rebellious statement.
Priced at $100, the Fluffita if offered in black, white, clear water, sulfur and pink cloud and is available on ugg.com and Ugg retail partners.
