Queens rapper Nicki Minaj and Kenneth Petty celebrated the birth of their first baby on September 20, 2020, news that was uncovered by news sites though not formally announced by Minaj.

On Thursday (October 15, 2020) the rapper used Instagram to acknowledge the birth and at the same time revealed for the first time that she and her husband had a son.

Given Minaj is known in her rhymes for frequently referring to her competitors as “my sons,” the fact that her first-born naturally spurred some good-humored joking on social media.

In the post, Minaj also expressed thanks for the gifts given to her son and posted congratulatory notes from Beyoncé, Kim Kardashian West and Kanye West, Riccardo Tisci, model Winnie Harlow and reggaeton singer Karol G.

“Thank you to Queen B, Kim & Ye, Riccardo Tisci, Winnie, Karol & everyone who sent well wishes during this time. It meant the world to me,” Minaj wrote and weighing in on life as a mother added, “I am so grateful & in love with my son. Madly in love. My favorite liddo boy in the whole wide world.”
