Music and fashion creative Pharrell Williams stays building, this time literally with news of plans for a new 266-room property called Goodtime Hotel, planned to open in January 2021.
According to South Florida Business Journal, the effort is being developed by Williams, nightclub mogul David Grutman, and Eric Birnbaum of Dreamscape Company, which owns the property and is the lead developer.
The hotel was designed by Ken Fulk, who was also the design lead on Williams and Grutman’s restaurant Swan, located in Miami’s Design District.
Socializing at the hotel will be centered around Goodtime Hotel’s Strawberry Moon, a restaurant, bar and pool club, a project spearheaded by Grutman, who’s Miami Beach resume includes Miami’s LIV at Fontainebleau, Planta and Komodo, among others.
The hotel features include a third-floor pool deck, lobby lounge, outdoor workout area and a recording studio, along with 45,000 square feet of retail space.
Construction company Building Blocks describes he building as a “major rehabilitation project in Miami’s historic South Beach. The seven-story tower is predominantly a hotel which also includes two floors of retail space and restaurants. The building’s scalloped glass fiber reinforced concrete (GFRC) façade references the neighborhood’s Art Deco landmarks while bringing a fresh, contemporary design to the landscape.”
