December 19, 2020. Leave a Comment

When it comes to social media, there’s a lot of chatter about the importance of “engagement,” and yes, Snobette Sneaker Awards panelist and sneaker lover Alisse Marie aka KiCKS0L0GY boasts it in spades on Instagram and Twitter, but more significantly, she and her followers have created something much rarer, realer and more human, an actual community.

From her home base in Southern California, Alisse Marie tweets about drops she’s scored, shares advice on how to obtain limited edition kicks and also is oh-so real about not just her wins but also her losses.

To put it mildly, 2020 has been a cataclysmic year and Alisse Marie and her followers have legit been there for each other sharing triumphs, laughs and also moments of heartache.

Check out our exchange with Alisse Marie along with her top five sneaker picks for 2020 below.

Snobette: Your Instagram and Twitter accounts are an illustration of sneaker culture community done well. What do you enjoy the most about having such a lively following?
Alisse Marie: “For me it’s the people who I can connect with. We all have the same love for sneakers but when someone can reach out to me with questions about life, career, or even just wanting to vent about anything without someone judging, they know my inbox is always open.”

Snobette: You have a pretty good success rate when it comes to copping shoes. What guidance would you give the person who’s taken endless SNKRS Ls and has basically given up because s/he thinks the system is rigged?
Alisse Marie: “I would tell them to enter more raffles, don’t just depend on the SNKRS app. There are great twitter accounts like @J23 app or @Solelinks who tweet out links for live raffles. They basically give you what you need to better the chances of winning. Also, ask your family to enter for you as well. It never hurts to have more than one person help you.”

Snobette: What’s one silhouette you’ve been wearing heavy over the past month?
Alisse Marie: “The one sneaker silhouette I have been grabbing first for the past month is Nike‘s Air Max 1. I’ve picked up so many I can’t wait any longer to wear them. Due to COVID-19, I really don’t get out the house much so even running to the store it’s been my go to.”

For fall winter 2025 KNWLS opted to forego a runwa For fall winter 2025 KNWLS opted to forego a runway show and present their collection in a styled lookbook.

Taking inspiration from a feminine Y2K aesthetic, the collection embodies designers Charlotte Knowles and Alexandre Arsenault’s ability to balance sexy and cool.

In an interview with Vogue, the pair shared that they are currently working on a new design director role in Europe and have several other projects in the pipeline, including another denim project, a collaboration with a jewelry brand, and a menswear capsule for an e-commerce site.

Commenting on the lookbook styling, they shared, "Obviously in the lookbooks it's styled in a quite extreme way, but if you break it down into individual pieces, we've been thinking about merchandising and the customer more than ever before," said Arsenault. "We've seen the team in the studio wearing the pieces differently too, and we've taken that into account. It's a nice challenge to say: 'Okay, we want to make a sweatshirt, but it still has this silhouette or wash or rib detail that makes it feel really Knwls."
