Dutch designer Iris Van Herpen showed a spring 2021 haute couture collection of 21 looks on Monday (January 25, 2016) in Paris, a collection inspired in part by Iranian Dutch singer Sevdaliza, who was included in the presentation.
Titled “Roots of Rebirth,” the ethereal collection was rooted in “the miraculous lacery of interconnectedness from the natural wood-wide web, weaving a dialogue between the terrestrial and the underworld.”
A descriptive on Sevsaliza who wore a maroon gown reads, “Her angelic voice transcends the runway while she entwines inside the vividly maroon dyed organza. The silk is hand-pleated into twisting roots to entangle the bodice symmetrically, to then be draped voluminously to sprout outwards in translucency, bloomingly framing the face.”
