Princess Nokia pays tribute to fellow native New Yorker Jennifer Lopez with the release of a single and visual for “It’s Not My Fault.” Directed by Sebastian Sdaigui and Robot MoonJuice, the Nokia video is inspired by Lopez’s break out video for “If You Had My Love,” the lead single from her 1999 album, On the 6.
While born and raised in different boroughs, Nokia in Manhattan and Lopez in the Bronx, both music creatives share a Puerto Rican heritage.
Commenting on the fun visual, Nokia took to Instagram where she wrote, “Thank you for Jennifer for your endless inspiration, and iconic career. Words could never say how much I love your work and legacy.”
The Lopez visual was directed by Paul Hunter, who Nokia also thanked:
“Thank you Paul Hunter for giving us your blessing to recreate this beautiful piece of art.”
“It’s Not My Fault” marks Nokia’s debut as an Arista Records signee, marking her first release with a major label.
