Russell Links With Designers Nicole McLaughlin And Dao-Yi Chow On Upcycled Capsule

Foot Locker‘s creative incubator Greenhouse has announced plans for a collaborative capsule with heritage sports label Russell Athletic and designers Nicole McLaughlin and 0-1 designers Dao-Yi Chow.

Making use of repurposed overstock Russell Athletic garments, offerings include a two-tone hoodie, two drawstring tote bags made from sweatshirt material plus a pair of clogs made from a recycled snapback cap. All of the items are co-branded and the shoes make use of upcycled materials from Chow’s Public School label.

Commenting on the effort, the Brooklyn-based McLaughlin stated, “It’s great working with Dao-Yi, Russell Athletic, and Greenhouse to create something that embodies the true spirit of upcycling that thoughtfully utilizes all leftover components.”

McLaughlin has become known for making clever statements on textile through by using unexpected materials to designs shoes, bras and other items

The Queens-born Chow has a long history in New York streetwear and boasts a resume that includes work as a designer at Sean John, co-founding Public School and also heading up creative direction at DKNY for 18 months.

From from $120 for the tote up to $225 for the slides and $200 for the hoodie, the capsule launches on April 9, 2021 exclusively on Foot Locker’s Greehouse app.
