UCLA student and 19-year-old music creative Paravi is enjoying quite the TikTok moment with her stirring cover of Beach Bunny‘s “Cloud 9,” a single first dropped by the group in Jan. 2020.
Paravi’s version of the song opens with her her softly stating, “I hate all men, but…” She then begins to sing in a deeply rich lower register transforming the upbeat garage song into one filled with loss and longing.

Commenting on an explosion of followers after the release of the cover, Paravi took to Instagram where she wrote, “this silly lil cover changed my entire life in a matter of seconds. im so gr8ful friends muah muah.”
“Cloud 9” is not Paravi’s first viral cover. Now boasting 2.1 million followers on TikTok, earlier this year she gained traction with covers of Frank Ocean‘s “Godspeed,” BØRNS’ “Electric Love” and Harry Styles’ “Falling.”
Paravi’s musical background is rooted in growing up performing Bollywood dance and Bharatanatyam, as well as Indian theater and classical voice, according to UCLA’s Daily Bruin.
