Protect Yourself With Homage Year’s Yellow Homage Ova Manifestation Bag

Atlanta-based label Homage Year as lead by Antoine Manning has queued up a new Homage Ova Manifestation bag, this time in a protection-providing shade of yellow. Just like the female reproductive cell the label’s name is inspired by, the bag is egg-shaped with curved top handles and features two external zipper pockets. Made of vegan leather, the top half of the bag is stamped with Homage Year’s abstract chicken head logo and comes with an adjustable detachable strap.

Manning first came up with the concept for the bag in late 2020 and produced his first sample in December. Like a lot of creatives, living through the pandemic played a role in the design of the bag. In Manning’s case, he was looking to inject some positivity into his life. “I was inspired by the state of the world at the time and where we stand in that. It was very dark at the time and very draining,” Manning explained.

“COVID took a lot from people mentally, emotionally and socially and I just wanted to create something that was a breathe of fresh air, newness, and would almost represent this new world we are going forward into. With the possibility of being free after a year and change of reclusiveness, I wanted to create something that manifested all the positivity we needed.”

As to what inspired Ova bag’s distinct, egg-like shape, Manning noted, “It’s funny, it was just literally so quick and easy to make. I had an idea in mind, I just wanted something organically shaped but also different. Then I just drew it out and played with compartments and that was it.”

Thus far, the Ova silhouette has been launched in a two-tone orange and green bags with both colorways selling out upon arrival.

Priced at $150, the Ova “Protection Manifestation” bag offered in a yolk yellow launches on May 22nd on homageyear.com.
