London-based NFT (non-fungible token) sneaker brand RTFKT (pronounced artifact) today announced it has raised $8 million in a seed funding round led by Andreesen Horiwitz, the investment firm known for its investment in audio content platform, Clubhouse.
Established in January 2020 by Benoit Pagotto, Chris Le and Steven Vasilev, RTFKT specializes in creating virtual sneakers and accessories.
Elaborating on the future of the company, Vasilev stated in a press statement, “Our main long-term goal is to create a platform where we can attract new creatives .In the future, we will see NFTs as keys or passports for experiences, games or virtual events.”
Recently RTFK collaborated with Atari on a limited edition sneaker collection in editions of 50 exclusively available as an NFT.
