Celebrated designer Phoebe Philo is returning to fashion with an eponymous label of apparel and accessories. London-based and launching in January 2022, the label is backed by LVMH as a minority investor. Philo is the only other shareholder.
Underscoring on the importance of independence, the 48-year-old Philo stated, “Being in my studio and making once again has been both exciting and incredibly fulfilling. I am very much looking forward to being back in touch with my audience and people everywhere. To be independent, to govern and experiment on my own terms is hugely significant to me.”
On the decision to bring in LVMH as an investor, she added, “I have had a very constructive and creative working relationship with LVMH for many years. So it is a natural progression for us to reconnect on this new project. I have greatly appreciated discussing new ideas with [LVMH CEO] Bernard Arnault and [LVMH executive vice president] Delphine Arnault and I am delighted to be embarking on this adventure with their support.
Born in Paris to British parents, Philo graduated from Central Saint Martins College in 1996. She began her career at Chloé, but is best known for her 10-tenure at Céline that ended with a pre-fall 2018 collection. Philo is married to English art dealer Max Wigram with whom she has three children.
