Billionaire CEO Kylie Jenner has officially announced her entry into the swimwear category with the launch of Kylie Swim. Rumors around the new venture first surfaced in May after it was discovered she had filed a trademark for the name. The launch will mark her first-time entry into a stand-alone apparel brand.
Jenner made the announcement on her personal Instagram plus the newly-launched Kylie Swim account with an image of herself in a revealing pink and yellow bikini. She followed up with a second post showing multiple swimsuit silhouettes in the same pink and yellow colorway as worn by models of all sizes.
The announcement came on the same day TMZ broke the news that Jenner is expecting her second child with rapper Travis Scott (real name .Jacques Bermon Webster II.) The couple already share a daughter, Stormi Webster, who is now three-years old.
In 2015 at the age of 18, Jenner launched her first business with Kylie Cosmetics. She extended beauty offerings with the launch of Kylie Skin in 2019. That same year, Coty Inc. purchased a 51 percent majority stake in Kylie Cosmetics for $600 million, placing the value of her company at $1.2 billion.
She was declared a billionaire by Forbes in 2019, making her the youngest self-made millionaire at the time of publication. Because of her upbringing in a relatively well off family, push back on social media on the description of Jenner as self made was enormous. The publication subsequently released a statement accusing Jenner of forging tax documents and fabricating sales figures in an effort to achieve billionaire status.
As of yet, Jenner hasn’t announced timing for the launch of Kylie Swim. Stay tuned for details.
