The energy turned up an notch in episode three of “Insecure,” titled “Pressure, Okay?” Themed on character Lawrence Walker (Jay Ellis) attempting to manage his role as a new father, things were complicated in a big way by the fact that Condola Hayes (Christina Elmore) has ambivalent feelings about his place in their baby’s life.
Costume wise, we see Lawrence has made a complete transformation from his season one couch potato sweats and is now a sharp-dressed man, wearing suits tailored to perfection (we spotted four!) and accessorizing with a Cartier Tank watch, an items whose pricing starts at $2,740.
In contrast, Condola is struggling to keep it all together and has gone from wearing looks so immaculate she once inspired Issa Dee (Issa Rae) to upgrade her own wardrobe, to wearing comfy t-shirts, tank tops and sweatpants. She’s still Condola though and when she showed up to a birthday party hosted by Tiffany (Amanda Seales) and Derek Dubois (Wade Allain-Marcus), she stepped her game right back up.
