R&B singer Ari Lennox took to Twitter today (December 2, 2021) to let followers know she “is safe,” following her arrest by Dutch military police at Amsterdam Schiphol airport. It’s not clear is Lennox is currently being detained.
Lennox was arrested on Monday (November 29) for aggressive behavior and public intoxication. Lennox (real name Courtney Salter) announced her arrest in real time on Twitter where she wrote, “I’m being arrested in Amsterdam for reacting to a woman racially profiling me.” Prior to reporting the arrest, Lennox tweeted, “F*ck Amsterdam security. They hate black people.” Just prior to her arrest, she accused airline staff of racial discrimination.

According to a spokesperson for the Dutch military police, who are responsible for security at Schiphol Airport, “Our unit found a woman full of emotions who wouldn’t calm down. That’s why she had to be taken into custody.” The exchange leading to the arrest is said to have occurred when Lennox was asked for identification and allegedly produced an invalid document.
The day after she was arrested, her manager, Justin LaMotte, tweeted she was safe and appreciated everyone’s support.
Lennox was arrested just hours after she performed her single “Pressure” at the 2021 Soul Train Awards and accompanied Summer Walker on “Unloyal.”
