VF Corp.-owned Supreme has appointed Tremaine Emory as its creative director. According to Business of Fashion Emory will continue to head Denim Tears while working closely with founder James Jebbia and Supreme’s design team.
Emory, a native of Atlanta, Georgia, who grew up in Queens, New York, has held creative advisory roles for the like of Frank Ocean, Tom Sachs and Kanye West to name a few.
A true polymath Emory’s has collaborated with Levi & Strauss, Asics, New Balance, Converse, Champion and Ugg through his Denim Tears label. A close collaborator and friend to Virgil Abloh, Emory consistently centers the importance and resonance of African-American culture and its legacy in the greater American narrative.
Founded by Jebbia in 1994, Supreme was acquired by VF Corp. in 2020 in a deal valued at $2.1 billion.
Supreme’s debut spring 2022 drop is set to launch on Thursday January 17th.
