Julia Fox Provides DYI Tutorial On How To Convert High Waist Jeans Into Low-Waist

The crazy days of Julia Fox‘s whirlwind romance with Ye (Kanye West) may over, but the 31-year-old actress has stayed engaged with her much-expanded Instagram following as of late with two very of-the-moment tutorials.

In the first tutorial, she provided her followers with a guide to create the fox eye she was first spotted in while attending a series of Paris Fashion Week presentations with West. Ignoring fashion’s obsession with perfection, Fox, who was doing her own make up to attend the Independent Spirit Award, struggled to apply the liner and at one point stated in exasperation, “this was a total flop,” before pulling off the masked eye look, one that was celebrated enough to inspire its own TikTok filter.

Fox followed up with a tutorial on how to turn high-waist jeans into low-waist jeans. In the visual, Fox wore a pair of high-waist jeans and used a highlighter to create a line a cut line with the back line sitting “right above my butt crack.” Taking a page out of Mariah Carey’ 1999 styling book, Fox started by cutting through the zipper, removing a four-inch strip of denim. After trimming loose threads, Fox pulled on the now low-slung jeans, which sat perfectly on her hips.

Modeling the ab-exposing Canadian tux on Instagram, Fox noted that she used the cut off piece of denim to fashion a bandeau top. Staying coordinated, Fox accessorized with an Alexander Wang denim tote and boots, about which Fox wrote, “never taking these boots off.”

Check out her denim and Fox Eye tutorials on Instagram here and here. (Fox doesn’t allow her Instagram posts to be embedded outside of the platform.)

Check out Carey’s story on her own DYI denim moment below (4:07).
