Yeezy Gap Engineered by Balenciaga‘s has announced it has pushed out a planned launch, putting a pause on the drop out of respect for the 19 children and two adults who were gunned down at an elementary school in Uvalde, Texas. Originally scheduled for May 25, 2022, the launch, which includes outerwear, hoodies, tops, no-seam t-shirts, pants and accessories, will now take place at 9:00 AM EST on May 27, 2022.
A post on yeezygap.com reads: “In light of the tragedy in Uvalde, Texas, we are postponing the Yeezy Gap Engineered by Balenciaga launch until Friday May 27th as we pause, our hearts go out to the families and communities impacted.”
The mass shooting in Uvalde marks the 30th shooting at a U.S. K-12 school thus far in 2022. All told this year, there have been approximately 39 shootings in K-12 schools and universities with 10 dead and 51 injured.
Yeezy CEO Ye aka Kanye West is fresh off of attending Balenciaga’s spring 2023 presentation. Held in the New York Stock Exchange building in downtown Manhattan, the presentation closed with a long-rumored collab with Adidas.
