Washington D.C.-born music singer/songwriter Rebel Rae has released released “Layover,” the lead single from her upcoming album From DC with Love, due out in early 2023.
Rae is quickly establishing a reputation for a silky smooth sound. An opener for the European leg of Ari Lennox‘s “Shea Butter Baby Tour” in early 2019, Rae is influenced by the likes of Tracy Chapman, Macy Gray and Lauryn Hill.
In press about the song, Rebel Rae stated, “If you’ve ever been away from your lover for long periods of time, this song is for you. It captures the feeling I felt being overseas in London for months while having someone that I was into all the way back in Los Angeles. Of course if you hold out for that person, the anticipation will be there as you head back to them and you get this song.”
