Bronx native Ice Spice continues her hot roll with a surprise appearance at Rolling Loud New York where she came out during Fivio Foreign‘s set to perform her break out hit “Munch (Feeling U),” a drill single that’s been dubbed the song of summer 2022. Prior to New York, the 22-year-old also performed at Rolling Loud Toronto.
Produced by RiotUSA and released in August 2022, “Munch (Feeling U),” is a follow-up to “No Clarity” and “Name of Love.” Excitement over the song exploded when she announced the release date alongside a screenshot of a DM from Drake. Describing the song as “hard af,” the Toronto rapper let her know he planned to play it on an upcoming episode of OVO Radio.
Doubling down on the co-sign, Drake invited Spice to perform at Rolling Loud Toronto in August. Reflecting on the big moment in a recent conversation with RapCaviar, Ice Spice said, “I did not really expect that. I had just landed in L.A. for my Genius Open Mic for ‘Munch,’ and he was actually like, ‘Yo, ‘Munch’ is hard and your On the Radar freestyle is hard.’ And I was like, ‘Damn, that’s crazy because I’m really in L.A. about to shoot the Open Mic.’”
Notably, Drake initially followed Ice Spice on Instagram but unfollowed her in September for unknown reasons.
Less than two years into her career, Ice Spice recorded her first song in March 2021. Titled “Bully,” the song also marked the start of her music partnership RiotUSA, who is also Bronx born.
