Actress and influencer Julia Fox has come under fire on social media for walking the runway for Alexander Wang‘s fall 2023 collection, held during New York Fashion Week. The 33-year-old is being criticized for supporting Wang because of accusations in 2020 from multiple men who accused him of sexually assaulting or attempting to sexually assault them at various industry events and parties. Many of the incidents were shared anonymously through Twitter account @shitmodelmgmt. Wang issued a statement denying the accounts in December 2020.

Fox has been spotted in Alexander Wang pieces in multiple street photographs (as have Kylie Jenner and Rihanna), but members of the fashion community viewed her walking the runway as taking her relationship with the designer to another level.

Push back was heightened when Fox responded to a comment on Instagram asking her why she walked the show given everything that was known about Wang. Fox said, “2b frank I love cancel culture but we do need to leave room for rehabilitation & and for those who put in the work & heal & learn from their mistakes.” Fox didn’t post any images from the Wang runway to her main Instagram feed.

Fans of Fox were unimpressed by her response, pointing out Wang at least would need to admit fault as a starting point. Her lackluster response was a breaking point for @juliafoxsource, Fox’s largest fan account on Twitter with close to 40,000 followers. The account is run by Noah, who loaded a single image of Fox walking the runway, noting he wouldn’t provide additional coverage of the event.

When we reached out to Noah via DM for his thoughts on Fox’s response, he wrote, “We see big stars wear Wang all the time, and I believe if they keep silent people will let it slide. Sadly Julia chose to defend him, it seems like celebrities will continue to prioritize getting a paycheck or an opportunity instead of putting morals first.”

Indicating he’s done updating the account, Noah published a final post with a cartoon headstone reading: “Here Lies julia fox fan updates 2022-2023.”
