Contemporary Australian artist Cj Hendry has turned her attention to plaid patterns with an exhibit in Booklyn exploring the check pattern with a captivating collection of artworks. Simply titled “Plaid,” Hendry’s 10th exhibition features 24 works of art, integrated with an interactive adult playground, meant to explore the connection between art and play, while channeling our inner child.
In press about the exhibition Hendry said, “I would love for each original artwork to only be able to be viewed as the entire experience, it brings such a greater depth to the genre of hyperrealism. I thought, how great would it be for a playground to be a public art sculpture? My practice is autonomous and trying to work with a government body on a park project presents many challenges. So, I said, fuck it! I’ll do it myself.”
Works, editions, scarves and puzzles related to the exhibit will launch on cjhendrystudio.com on April 20, 2023 at 7:00 PM EST.
“Plaid” will be available to view from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM from April 17-23, 2023 at 220 Newel Street in Greenpoint, Brooklyn. The entry fee is $10 which includes a complimentary pair of Plaid grip socks.
