Harlem rap collective Dipset has revealed plans for a collaboration with BB Simon on a crystal-covered buckle and pony hair leather belt, offered in either red or pink, rapper Cam’ron‘s signature shade from back in the day.
The collaboration is meaningful because BB Simon’s belts were wildly popular in New York in the late ’90s and early 00s, especially among young Harlemites like Dipset members Jim Jones and Juelz Santana who were known for their love of flashy style.
A few years ago as early-aught trends began to swing back into style again, BB Simon belts began to resurface. Supreme officially marked the return of the trend with a BB Simon dog collar collaboration for the summer 2020 collection. Since then the brand has been spotted on Doja Cat, Swae Lee and Ice Spice, who is know for layering two belts. Recently BB Simon partnered with 730Carlina on a belt featuring a Kirby-inspired belt loop.
Pricing isn’t available yet, but Dipset and BB Simon’s belt will launch exclusively at ComplexCon on November 18 and 19th.
