London-based Dr. Martens is introducing a new footwear silhouette called the Buzz. With inspiration drawn from the brand’s extensive archives, the Buzz reinterprets classic elements with a bold platform sole, available in both a lace-up and Mary Jane style.
Footwear designer Bridie Husband shared insights into the design, stating, “The Buzz has a sporty, streetwear aesthetic that our wearers haven’t seen from us in recent seasons. We’ve seen a big shift in women’s footwear trends being heavily rooted in the ‘90s and nostalgia, so it’s the perfect time to bring back elements of such a sought-after archive shoe. There’s a sense of physical elevation and confidence that comes with a big platform sole, and we’ve added padding for extra comfort. We’re really excited to see how wearers will react to the new style and make it their own.”
To celebrate the launch, Dr.Martens will host a three-day pop-up experience in New York City featuring the Buzz Bus, offering a first look at the new collection alongside complimentary beverages, exclusive shoe charms, and a unique shopping experience.
The Buzz Bus will kick off on February 6 outside Dr. Martens’ Soho retail location at 148 Spring Street from 12 PM to 5 PM EST, returning on February 7 from 10 AM to 5 PM EST. On February 8, it will move to Dr. Martens’ Herald Square store, where it will be stationed from 10 AM to 5 PM EST.
