Understandably, NBA’s All-Star event is very much centered around the alpha, athletic male. Look through the league’s various feeds and it’s all guys, guys and more guys. Behind the scenes at this weekend’s event in Charlotte, however, Nike and Jordan did their part this year to create events meant to speak to female attendees interested in doing more than just cheering.
Nike and Jordan’s efforts started with the proactive approach of inviting/flying out female business leaders and creatives to the event, where they experienced a calendar-filled weekend of meet ups celebrating and empowering women. Some of the attendees were tapped to lead creative activations and/or took part in a day-long series of panels produced by The Female Quotient, a female empowerment organization.
While the reasons for their attendance may have been all business, Nike’s female guests at the event showed up and showed out with ‘fits reflecting a very hot look at the moment, one anchored on performance-themed silhouettes amped up with statement-making luxury accessories.
