California-native Billie Eilish (real name Billie Eilish Pirate Baird O’Connell) has earned her first No. 1 Billboard Hot 100 single with “Bad Guy,” a song that spent nine weeks at No. 2. The 17-year old Eilish, who co-creates with her brother Finneas Baird O’Connell, is the first person born in the 2000s to earn a No. 1 single.
The song’s final ascent to the No. 1 spot is significant because it brought an end to the record-setting 18 weeks spent at the No. 1 spot by Lil Nas X‘s “Old Town Road” featuring Billy Ray Cyrus.
On Twitter, Nas X wrote, “congratulations to billie eilish!! u deserve this!!. On Instagram, he added, “this is the first week in 5 months old town road hasn’t been number 1. this journey had taught me so much!”
