Superstar rapper Drake has provided an in depth look at his very new and lavish Toronto mansion, dubbed “The Embassy.” Designed by Canadian architectural and interior designer Ferris Rafauli, the home along with Drake (as styled by Mellany Sanchez) are featured on the cover of Architectural Digest‘s April 2020 issue.
Drake purchased the home’s property in 2016 and finally moved in sometime in fall of last year (check out the exterior while under construction here). The 500,00 square-foot home, which features a regulation size basketball court and a Grammy-filled awards room, is described by Rafauli as “a proper 19th-century limestone mansion. But the exterior profiles are more minimal and the lines are a bit cleaner.”
Commenting on his home, Drake (Aubrey Drake Graham) views it as a statement on the importance of his Toronto roots. He explained, “I think the house shows that I have true faith in myself to take on this task when I was just 27 and see it through,” says the now 33-year-old superstar. “I also think the house says that I will forever remain solid in the place I was born.”
The estate is highlighted with rock star touches including a one-ton master bedroom bed and base that includes a built-in whiskey-and-champagne bar; a 4,000-pound tub of faceted black marble carved from a single block; a two-story closet (!) and a bespoke Bösendorfer concert grand piano designed by Rafauli and Takashi Murakami.
