Have a first look at Converse and photographer Shaniqwa Jarvis‘ flower-covered collaborative Chuck 70 hightop sneaker. In addition to the cheery pink floral upper, the shoe features white laces, a translucent grey toe and a pink outsole. There’s also a thick black stripe placed horizontally on the lateral side of the shoe. The floral pattern extends to the box which is printed with Jarvis’ name.
Raised in New York, Jarvis attended Parsons School of Design and has shot for Fear of God’s Element, Supreme, Nike, Adidas, Timberland, as well as major publications including the NY Times. She’s also photographed portraits of Cardi B, Janelle Monáe and SZA and held solo exhibits in London and Tokyo.
In 2018, she released a self-titled book published by New York-based Baque Creative Press. In a NY Times profile related to the book launch, Jarvis commented on the potential for burn out as a black woman artist who deals with a lot of race and sex-related push back. She explained, “I know what I want, and I don’t want to let people’s ignorance stop me from getting that. I can never sit around and moan. As a black woman, I know that just out the gate. It’s not going to be the same for me. Knowing that, having that already in me, I just go for it.”At the moment, there’s no info on timing or cost of the shoe.
