Adidas Originals has revealed a very cool collaboration with Russian-born Lotta Volkova, a stylist best known for her work with Demna Gvasialas‘ labels’ Balenciaga and Vetements.
Making the most of her access to Adidas’ extensive archives, Volkova took inspiration from some of the brand’s earliest pieces. In an interview with Vogue, she explained, “The green tracksuit was inspired by the first tracksuit Adidas ever made.”
On the unusual Trefoil mule, Volkova added, “I was interested to see if Adidas has ever made a heeled shoe, and we discovered the trefoil mules that gave inspiration for the Adilette [mule]. Also, I like a very hands-on, DIY approach, which inspired the windbreaker pieces with hardware zips applications.”
Offerings in the capsule include a three-quarter-length zip up windbreaker, jumpsuit, two track jacket and pants silhouettes, a zipper-detailed track jacket and shorts, leg warmers, a one-piece swimsuit and matching swim cap and a one-shoulder soccer jersey.
Accessories include a Trefoil mule in red or black ($150), a retro-inspired SL 72 sneaker ($120), plus a red nylon clutch and a pink synthetic leather tennis bag ($120)
Look for the entire collection to launch on at 1:00 PM EST on August 13, 2020 on adidas.com/lotta-volkova.
