Luxury label Balenciaga has teamed up with U.S.-based shoe company Vibram on a capsule collection highlighting the brand’s FiveFinger shoe, which is meant to mimic a barefoot stride.
A perfectly amusing effort befitting Demna Gvasalia, the mischievous head creative for the French label, the glove-like shoe has been translated into a high ankle boot for women and for the men, a low ankle boot and sneaker featuring a slightly raised square heel.
First revealed on Balenciaga’s fall 2020 runway, the co-branded shoes make use of recycled knitwear and are individually numbered. The shoes are offered in a solid black, red and hot pink.
Priced at $1,290 for all three silhouettes, the Balenciaga and Vibram FiveFingers capsule will launch on October 15, 2020 on balenciaga.com and at select stores.
