New York-born, multidisciplinary art Sue Tsai queues up two resin sculptures sure to delight fans of her whimsical designs. Both figures are black connoting a shadow-like depiction as contrasted again colorful backdrops.
The sculptures mark Tsai’s first time making figurines. She first revealed them on Instagram where she wrote, “These two babies of mine have been in ideation for over two years and in production all this year. It’s been such a process and I’m so proud of the work that went into these sculptures.”
Making a statement on haunting thoughts, the piece titled “Reflection” depicts a little boy sitting atop a gold-covered scull inscribed with the phrase: “You’ll always been haunted by your potential.”
The second sculpture titled “The Catch,” is a rendering of a little girl who stands in a gold row boat with a fishing pole baited with a human-shaped heart. There’s a baby blue bucket next to her labeled “love.”
Both figures are nine-inches tall and priced at $275 each. Pre-orders launch on February 5, 2021 at 11:00 AM EST on sue-tsai.com. Orders are limited to one of each figurine per customer.
